History
Head massage comes from India, over 1000 years ago to keep long, thick hair in a healthy condition. Oil was massaged into the hair to keep it healthy and shiny. Today this massage is done on the back, neck and head promoting calming of the emotions, relaxation and relieving stress. It relaxes the scalp and helps unknot blockages of muscle tension in shoulders. Both men and women enjoy this service. Areas of the body include three major Chakras, the crown, the brow and the throat chakra, promoting well-being. Champissage (a trademark; possibly a portmanteau of chāmpi, the Hindi and Urdu term for the practice, and massage) is better known as Indian head massage, an alternative medicine massage. In Champissage, the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face are massaged. * Note: Please call or email me directly for an appointment at: carolearle.ca@gmail.com If it best to leave your name and a phone number so I can return your call if I am busy.
What to Expect Come prepared as you would for a massage. Comfortable clothing and ready for special time for yourself. You begin by lying face down on the massage table, only clothing from waist up is removed and you are covered at all times. We start with the back and shoulder area, then move to the head where oil is applied to enhance the hair follicles and promote healthy hair. A gentle massage is carried out with essential oils added for your pleasure. If you like, bring a small towel or head cover that you can wrap as a turban when you leave as you will have oil in your hair. You get the most benefit to the hair if oil is left in overnight, but can be washed out also.
